TROUBLESHOOTING COMPUTERCUT PRO SOFTWARE
- SOLUTION: The computer is too old and does not have the requirements to run the program. It must be Windows 10 operating system or newer. At least 8GB of RAM memory, preferably more. I5 or higher processor or equivalent. Monitor resolution of 1600 x 900 or greater. USB or serial connector. A USB printer cable (preferred).
- SOLUTION: Open the program and go to File and select Use Software Rendering and restart the computer.
- SOLUTION –The program is not connecting to the internet. Check the internet connection and restart the program
- SOLUTION – Anti Virus software may be blocking the program. Temporarily disable the anti virus software and see if it connects. If it does then check the software to see how to allow the ComputerCut Pro software.
- SOLUTION – Window Defender may be blocking the program. Go to lower left at the bottom of the taskbar and click on Start-Settings-Update and Security-Windows Security-Virus and Threat Protection-Firewall and Network Protection-and click on Allow an app Through Firewall. Then go to your computer C drive-ComputerCut Pro-and from the list allow the Cadlink application and the Bridge 32 application. Next in the ComputerCut Pro folder scroll up and open the ComputerCut folder. Allow the ComputerCut application and the CefSharp.BrowserSubprocess. In the list of allowed application make sure both boxes are checked. Restart you computer. If it does not work call technical support at 800 348-3193
- SOLUTION - Your DNS may be corrupted or full. Perform these steps.
- In the Start menu's search bar, type cmd and press Enter
- Right-click Command Prompt and select Run as Administrator
- Type ipconfig /flushdns and hit Enter
- You should see – Windows IP Configuration. Successfully flushed the DNS Resolver Cache
- Exit CMD
- Your DNS cache should have been reset.
- Restart your computer.
- SOLUTION – The program opens with the Main Application and Cut Widow icons showing on the task bar but the main window will not open. The problem is somehow the main window shrank down to a small X on the desktop. Click on the X and resize it back to the normal size.
- SOLUTION- Cover the sensor on the back of the plotter. There are two light sensors on a plotter. One in the front and one in the back. These sense light and stops the plotter from moving. on the front when you size material in the plotter the plotter moves the material back and once it sees light it stops. Same in the back. If the plotter is in an area of a lot of light and the material lifts up and sees the light it will think it is the end of the material and stop.
- SOLUTION- If you are connected using a USB to Serial cable it may be bad. Try converting to a USB Printer cable. Once you install it open the program and go to File-Cut Window. Then at the top of the window got to Cut-Plotting Defaults-Setup-Port and under the drop down list you should see GCC USB. Select it and see if that works. If you can not get that to work then replace the USB to Serial Cable with a new one.
- SOLUTION - First, in the cut window at the top go to Cut-Plotting Defaults-Setup and make sure the selected driver is your plotter. Next check to see if you are connected using a USB Printer Cable or a USB to Serial Adapter as pictured below.
If you are connected using the USB Printer cable, click on the Port tab and in the drop down list at the bottom if you have a Jaguar plotter you should see GCC USB at the bottom. Make sure it is selected. If you have a Graphtec you should see something like Graphtec FC or whatever model you have. If you have another type of plotter you should see the plotter Make USB or unknown USB. Make sure it is selected. Double check to make sure the cable connection is good.
If you are connected using the USB to Serial Adapter, click on the port tab and at the top you should see USB to Serial cable or something similar. Make sure it is selected. If when you go to cut you get an error message something like "port not found" or "Com not recognized" or something similar, unplug your cable and plug it into a different USB port on your computer. Make sure the Port tab is showing the USB to Serial selected and try plotting. If it still does not work switch to a USB Printer Cable or purchase a new USB to Serial Adapter since the one you have has probably gone bad.
SOLUTION 1: Check to make sure all connections are tight.
SOLUTION 2: If you are using a USB to SERIAL cable which has a 9 pin connection with two screws to connect to the plotter, it could be that the cable has gone bad and you will need to purchase a new on. Here is a link to Amazon where you can purchase the cable. https://www.amazon.com/s?k=USB+TO+SERIAL+CONVERTER+for+widows+11&crid=148SYAJL19K5R&sprefix=usb+to+serial+converter+for+widows+11%2Caps%2C90&ref=nb_sb_noss
SOLUTION 3. USB connection may be faulty on the computer. Unplug the cable and try using another port.
SOLUTION: If for some reason you were not able to use your trial and need another or to extend it we need the machine serial number or MSN of your computer. To get it hit your windows key plus R and you should see a window pop up with the Command Prompt or CMD. Hit enter and in the next line type wmic bios get serialnumber. The serial number will then be shown. Email that number to support@computercut.com and they will respond.
SOLUTION: On the old computer open the ComputerCut Pro program and go to File-Cut Window. In the cut window go to Help-About ComputerCut Pro. Take a screenshot of the window that pops up or write down the S/N. Then go back to Help-Deactivate Product. This will deactivate the activation code so it can be used on you new computer.
In the new computer go to www.computercutpro.com and then to Download. Watch the two videos on how to install the program and how to install your plotter. When you install the program and it asks for you to register using the activation code insert the code from the old computer.
To view a video on how to perform the process click HERE
SOLUTION: You will need to get out of the S Mode in your version of windows. Do an internet search for How to Get Out of S Mode and add the version of windows your computer has Windows 10 or WinMdows 11. This will remove the Microsoft store restriction and you should be able to install the program
If the look of the toolbars have changed or some are missing
it could have been caused by a number of reasons. SOLUTION: Click HERE and download the toolbar.ini to your computer. Next, in the cut window at the top go to VIEW-TOOLBARS-IMPORT and import the toolbar.ini from your computer and close the window. The original toolbar should now be available.
SOLUTION: o resolve this error, go to Control Panel > Add Remove Programs
Look for the following two Microsoft Redistributables 2015-2022 and right click on each of them and click change and do a repair and then restart the computer.
TROUBLE SHOOTING GENERAL PLOTTER ISSUES
- SOLUTION 1- Check cut strip (white plastic strip under cutting head) If it has any gouges or cuts in it it will create inconsistent cuts. Replace strip Or if it has high and low spots. Make sure strip is as flat as possible by using the handle of a screwdriver or hammer to push strip down. Replace strip.
- SOLUTION 2 – Blade holder may have debris in it. Remove the blade by pushing the pin to push it out, and blow out any debris in the blade holder and then replace the blade.
- SOLUTION 3 – Blade is not out far enough in blade holder. The blade holder itself may be hitting the film. Increase depth of blade holder.
- SOLUTION 4 – Blade holder may be defective. The blade may not be able to rotate in the blade holder. Order a new blade holder from your Solar Gard service center our you can replace with Roland blade holder and blades. They can be ordered from Amazon at this
link: https://www.amazon.com/s/ref=nb_sb_noss?url=searchalias%3Delectronics&field-keywords=roland+plotter+blade+holders+and+blades - SOLUTION 5 – If none of the solutions above work the platen may be bent. Contact GCC at 909 655-3045 Ext.3
- SOLUTION – If it is a Jaguar V make sure they are using the 2 RED pinch rollers together or the 2 BLUE pinch rollers together. The RED rollers use more force than the BLUE. Using a RED and a BLUE will make it go off track.
- SOLUTION – Make sure pinch rollers are lined up over the open parts to the cam and under the white markers.
- SOLUTION – Make sure both pinch rollers are engaged. Check by pushing the pinch roller down. When you hear a click, it disengages the pinch roller. Lift up the lever on the pinch roller and it will click down which engages the roller. Disengaging the roller makes it inoperable. Engaging it makes it operable.
- SOLUTION – Feed the material through the plotter about halfway to the floor. Hold the material tight against the plotter in the front and reach over and roll the material to it is tight to the roll with no slack in it. Slide the roll on the roll holders and line it up under the white markers. Make sure it is still tight to the roll and use the large lever to put the pinch rollers down. Initialize the plotter and press the down arrow to feed it through the plotter and check how it tracks.
Then at the top of the window got to Cut-Plotting Defaults-Setup-Port and under the drop down list you should see GCC USB or similar for your particular plotter.
Make sure the Port tab is showing the USB to Serial selected and try plotting. If it still does not work switch to a USB Printer Cable or purchase a new USB to Serial Adapter since the one you have has probably gone bad.
- SOLUTION: The film may not be tracking through the plotter properly and may be sliding away from the pinch rollers. Before you cut feed the material out the length of whatever you are cutting an make sure it is tracking straight.
- SOLUTION: You may have a static problem. Watch to see if the material is stick to the plotter as if feeds through. If it sticks it will roll up behind the cutting head and jam up. You will need to reduce the static by purchasing anti static tinsel and drape it across the plotter so the film hits it and drains off the static. You can purchase the tinsel from Amazon HERE
- SOLUTION: You may have the blade out too far in the holder or too much down force on the cutting head. The depth of the blade should always be the thickness of whatever material you are cutting and barely put a scratch in the liner. You should always start with the lowest force possible and then increase it as the blade cutting decreases. In general for window film no force higher than 130 gf. For paint protection film and vinyl it can go slightly higher.
- SOLUTION: The material may be tugging directly from the roll and moving the material in the plotter. Always roll out the amount of material you are going to cut first and then cut.
- SOLUTION; The offset on the plotter may be off. The offset is the way the plotter cuts a corner. Do a test cut on the plotter. This is normally a square with a triangle in the middle. If the corner on the square flares out, the offset is too high. If the corner is rounded, the offset is too low. Check you plotter owners manual to see how to change the offset.
- IT IS NOT A PATTERN PROBLEM, a pattern can not be posted unless it is a completely closed loop without any gaps.
SOLUTION: Check to see how you are connected to the plotter. If it is a usb to serial cable (connects to connection with the pins and screws) it may be that the cable is going bad. Try unplugging the cable from the computer and connect to a different port. If you go to cut and it does not cut at all, make sure the port in the program has not changed by going to the Cut Window Cut-Plotting Defaults-Setup and click on the Ports tab. In the drop down list at the top click on whatever com says USB To Serial. If changing the port corrects the problem it is still a good idea to get a new cable or connect using a straight USB cable that connects to the small port that looks like a small house. If you do connect that way be sure to go back to the ports drop down list and select the port for the USB that coincides with your plotter.
SOLUTION: Blade holder has probably gone bad so the blade is loose. Replace blade holder.
TROUBLE SHOOTING JAGUAR PLOTTER
- SOLUTION – Make sure the flanges on the blade holder are placed in the slots on the thumb screw door that locks the blade holder in place. Inexperienced user can mistakenly put the flange on top of the thumb screw door instead of into the slots.
- SOLUTION – Button on control panel may be stuck. Push the buttons multiple times to see if it releases. If it does not, call GCC at (909) 655-3045 Ext. 3 for a replacement.
- SOLUTION - Check and make sure the material they have in the plotter covers the front sensor on the plotter.
- SOLUTION - Remove side cover by lever and check to make sure the lever inside is contacting the metal lever.
- SOLUTION - Rear paper sensor may not be covered with material. Make sure the material is covering the rear sensor and if it is not you can put tape over it since it is not needed when cutting off rolls.
- SOLUTION - Auto Unroll Media is enabled. Hit Online/Offline button then Misc. button. Auto Unroll should be displayed. Hit enter. Select disable and hit enter. Then On line/Offline.
- SOLUTION - Units somehow changed. Hit online offline button and then MISC button. Keep hitting right arrow until you see Select Unit. Hit enter. Hit up or down arrow till you see Unit (Inches/g). Hit enter. Then Online/Offline
- SOLUTION - Under misc settings go to paper saving mode, set length to expanded and press enter to save
- SOLUTION: The first thing it could be is a damaged pinch roller. Remove the cover over the pinch rollers. You’ll want to make sure that each pinch roller can properly position it’s flag shown in the image below. This flag should fit inside the sensor on the bottom of the carriage board shown below. If it is broken call GCC at 909 718-0248 Ext. 3
- SOLUTION- This is usually due to the white, flat ribbon cable on the cutting head is loose or possibly damaged in some cases. First turn off the machine, remove the top panel and right panel, you will see this connection. Remove the cable, from the PCB (small green board you see connected to the carriage) you can then plug it back in. It may have some residual adhesive/glue you can remove. Follow the cable to the other side, perform the same technique there. In some Jaguars there will be two boards in here, it can be seen by removing the front panel. There will be a gray cable that bridges the two of them together (see attached image). press and make sure that cables are connected. Disconnect and reconnect if needed to be sure. Restart the machine and attempt to size it like normal.
SOLUTION: A sensor on the blade holder or carriage is sensing too much pull on the carriage head so it shuts down the plotter to prevent damage to the plotter motor. Remove the blade holder from the carriage and attempt to cut the same pattern without the blade in it to see if it still stops. This can sometimes reset the sensor. It should fix it. If it does not, call GCC tech support at 909 718-0240 ext3 for Jaguar technical support
TROUBLE SHOOTING GRAPHTEC PLOTTER
- SOLUTION – Shut down and restart computer and plotter.
- SOLUTION - Unplug connection from computer and try another connection
